About

PelageStudio

Hannah Freese is the singular creative force of PelageStudio, based in Sydney. Commencing an unconventional journey in 2020, Hannah, a self-taught taxidermist, was inspired by a passion for art and nature, as well as the desire to preserve life's beauty beyond mortality.

Hannah currently holds a Professional Taxidermy License in the state of New South Wales, enabling her to work respectfully with the native animals of the Eora Nation.

PelageStudio allows Hannah to challenge norms and redefine taxidermy as an art form, blending aesthetics with functionality. Every design is unique and original, striving to defy convention and tradition.

In addition to her unconventional designs, Hannah possesses the expertise to work with a diverse array of animals. With a keen interest in ornithology, her skills encompass birds, mammals and reptiles, including the intricate and complex skeletal articulation of snakes and the preservation of wet specimens.

PelageStudio acknowledges and pays respect to the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation and all Traditional Owners of Country across Australia.

We honour the connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to land, place, waters, and community—the very sources from which we responsibly source animals and operate.
